Hoole Cabinet
This commissioned piece was designed following closely to the work of Edward Barnsley, known in part for his work in the English Arts & Crafts Movement.
It features a subtle curve along the front of the piece which gives the cabinet a bit of movement and a softened presence, where it might otherwise be overbearing. Helping with this, and to prevent a top-heaviness, there is a slight upward taper of the sides and the front; the carcase is wider at the bottom than it is at the top, and the doors are thicker at the bottom than at the top. This feature is as subtle to see as it was tricky to make, but worth it!
Pictured in white oak, with brass knife hinges, and finished with a polymerized oil and wax blend. Approx. 60"w x 36"h x 18"d.
